THE BEST WAY TO GET TO NAUVOO - CHICAGO vs. St. LOUIS
Most families fly into Chicago, Il. or St. Louis, MO. when coming to Nauvoo. In either case your drive from the airport will be approximately 3 - 4 hours. The drive from Chicago is about 30 minutes longer than from St. Louis. Please use the Nauvoo, Illinos map below for your convenience. Here are some other things to consider:
CHICAGO (north of Nauvoo): Chicago has many world famous museums & galleries, Six Flags theme parks, two Major League Baseball teams (Cubs & White Sox) and the NFL Chicago Bears... among so many other things! Flying into Chicago can add a lot to your family vacation and there is plenty to do before or after your visit to Nauvoo. The drive from Chicago will be roughly 3.5 hrs depending on traffic.
ST. LOUIS (south of Nauvoo): St. Louis hosts the famous St. Louis arch, Six Flags theme park, one Major League Baseball team ( Cardinals ) and an NFL Football team ( Rams). The drive to Nauvoo from St. Louis goes through Mark Twain's Hannibal, MO. and can be a fun stop. The drive from St. Louis will be roughly 3 hrs depending on traffic.
CLOSER AIRPORTS: A regional airport in Quincy, IL has daily flights from St. Louis to Quincy (and vice versa). The one way rates are between $29 and $49. If you are interested in flying right into Quincy, the airline's name is "Cape Air". Once you arrive in Quincy, you can rent a car right at the small regional airport from Hertz. Quincy is about 50 minutes south of Nauvoo. Additionally, Burlington Iowa has a small regional airport which flies between Chicago and Burlington (and vice versa). The one way rates are between $35-55. If you are interested in flying into Burlington, the airline's name is "Air Choice One". Once you arrive in Burlington, you can rent a car right at the small regional airport from Avis Rent-a- Car. Burlington is about 30 minutes north of Nauvoo.
